A British oil worker has been shot dead in an attempted carjacking in Brazil.

Peter Campsie, 48, from Scotland, was killed by two men in Rio de Janeiro as he returned home to his family after a business meeting.

The operations manager for Diamond Offshore Drilling International was shot twice as he tried to flee his Lexus on Wednesday, the Press and Journal reported.
